Before going into battle the soldier would have to soak his shield with water. The Roman shield was door-shaped that was wide and long. We need to walk in the righteousness of God which is a weapon of defense against all the tricks, schemes and accusations from the devil. The soldier’s breastplate was used to protect the soldier’s vital organs. Joshua 1:9, Romans 10: 8-9, Hebrews 4:12 Breastplate of Righteousness The enemy will have to flee when we speak God’s Word. Paul was telling the church that God has given us a weapon, a sword, God’s Word to defeat the enemy as Jesus did in Luke 4. It is the only offensive weapon mentioned in Ephesians 6 and was used to defeat the enemy’s plans. This sword was made of iron and used in close combat and was razor sharp on both sides, they were made in different sizes up to two feet long. The Roman soldier’s sword was a very brutal weapon. We must apply the Word of God to our lives on a daily basis. The belt was used as a holder to keep his armor/ weapons in proper position. The solider put on his wide leather belt first. 2 Timothy 1:9, 2 Corinthians 5:17 Belt of Truth We can have victory by immersing ourselves in the Word of God and praying. The enemy wants to attack our minds and steal our victories every day. The helmet of salvation is our protection of knowing and having assurance who we are in Christ by the victory God had over the enemy at the Cross. It protected the soldier from having his head cut off.

The helmet was decorated with different kinds of engravings and etchings on it, plus a plume of horse’s hair stood straight up on the top of the helmet. Otherwise it may loosen and come off in a crisis. The Roman soldier’s helmet was made of bronze or metal and was formed to fit the head, the cheeks and jaws of the soldier. But the actual making of and fitting on of the shield of faith belongs in the family circle.
#ARMOR OF GID HOW TO#
In church we can learn how to assemble and fit them together. “In the Church we can teach about the materials from which a shield of faith is made: reverence, courage, chastity, repentance, forgiveness, compassion. Our faith, if it is built upon Christ and His gospel, can defend us against the adversary’s numerous onslaughts, just as a shield, if it is made of the right material, will withstand volleys of fiery darts. A shield is the most versatile and effective means of defense in battle. We should pick up the “shield of faith, wherewith shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked” ( Ephesians 6:16 D&C 27:17).

Focusing our minds on Christ and His salvation will protect us from unworthy thoughts, keep our “eye single to the glory of God” ( D&C 4:5), and guide us in our decisions. We should put on the “helmet of salvation” ( Ephesians 6:17 D&C 27:18). Lee, “Message from the First Presidency,” Ensign, Jan. … Preparedness is the way to victory, and ‘eternal vigilance is the price of safety.’ … The tide of victory rests with him who is prepared” (President Harold B. “Your feet … represent your goals or objectives in life. We should have our “feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace” ( Ephesians 6:15 D&C 27:16). With our testimony and the power and peace of God’s Spirit, we can strike against and conquer the enemy of all righteousness. The word of God is “sharper than any two-edged sword” ( Hebrews 4:12), and the power of the Spirit can “carry unto the hearts of the children of men” ( 2 Nephi 33:1), help people to “know the truth of all things” ( Moroni 10:5), and even “thrash the nations” through the preaching of the gospel ( D&C 35:13). A sword is a weapon used to strike at the enemy. We should wield the “sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” ( Ephesians 6:17 see D&C 27:18).

Our righteousness, both in thought and deed, protects the core of our spiritual lives. A breastplate protects vital organs such as the heart and lungs. We should wear the “breastplate of righteousness” ( Ephesians 6:14 D&C 27:16). President N. Eldon Tanner (1898–1982), First Counselor in the First Presidency, “‘Put on the Whole Armor of God,’” Ensign, May 1979, 46.
